Depends if there was any additional damage underneath.....
and the quality of the work and finish. Remember also it's very hard to match stock paint perfectly especially just a section repainted. A very new damaged car I would not buy. If 2 cars had 50k on them and were selling for $20k. I still would be hard pressed to buy the damaged one for merely a $1200 discount. More like $2500+ would be my judgement.
I've just seen too many cars that look like gypsy cabs a year or two later and a buyer should be pleased they got a bargain knowing full well the condition of the car and it's history.

Thanks. I think the quality of the work is a MAJOR factor here. Also, I wonder about the potential
for paint fade in the future. The quality of paint work at even the very best body shop probably will be far inferior to the stock paint job.
