Default Skittering or coke-bottle sound at throttle lift-off, loss of boost when vehicle is at temperature.

I'm sure others can provide more...

Sounds like it's time for the forge DV, that's just what's going on with my car. Thanks

Default Nonsense - the lift-off "chuff" is normal...

When you instantly take your foot off the throttle when the turbo is providing boost, the pressure has to go somewhere, thus the "chuff" noise as the DV vents the extra pressure. That's the whole point of the DV.

Now if you have a honk when applying the gas, then you have a DV problem...

Default For the record, there are at least two different symptoms of bad DV; one is "coke-bottle"

We're not talking about the normal turbo "chuff" sound, but rather a sound reminiscient of blowing across the top of a coke bottle (sometimes also described as a soft hum or honk).

With a bad DV, his sound can often be heard under very light acceleration between about 2,500 and 3,200 RPM. (that's how it manifested itself in my car, from mile 1)

Lift-off rattle different than lift-off chuff. Rattle occurs in 180s.

Default Not quite nonsense...

The DV should provide a short, quick release. Not an impression of Jimmy Durante!

When the piston gets hot it gets sticky. When it gets sticky, it doesn't release in the normal manner. It 'stutters' for lack of a better word, creating a 'skittering' sound.

These were my DV symptoms.

Others have mentioned a Coke bottle sound that I never experienced, but thought worth mentioning.

But, 'nonsense' is a little harsh. Especially when I described something I experienced that was remedied by a new DV.
