just want to add that mine works perfectly fine...
not sure what all the stuff about the better wires and crap is... if you're a novice user (block logging while driving/dyno, clearing CEL's, etc) seems like a good cheap solution...

You can get the software from Ross tech, they have both.....
Shareware and full registered software. I believe the full registered version is $99.00 with no support if you don't buy their cables. The shareware version is a free download but it is very limited as far as what you can actually do with it. I believe the shareware is mostly for monitoring no adjusting or graphing. A lot of the cables on ebay are the opto coupled interfaces which are very cheap but only work with the older software, again from Ross tech again very limited functions.
