Default (yet another) chipping advice thread

Hello all,
I've been enjoying my MoroBlue '02 225TTQC for 3.5 years and I'm ready to take the plunge and chip it.
I was only familiar with APR and ABT and spending a day going through threads I've discovered all the other options!

I'm leaning toward Revo (installer is only 5miles away) without the SMS.
I didn't see many recent posts on chipping.

TTs out there who've had Revo for a while: what do you think?
260hp/283lbft sounds very impressive!!!
Daily drivability/fuel economy/reliability/dealer problems anyone?
All advice (Revo or other chip) is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Default Consistent feedback has been "go local". All of the aftermarket tuners have their strengths

but the consensus seems to be that there is great value in being able to get help. Also, most of the shops will debug the car (of ECU related problems) while they have it. Apparently, very valuable.

I have read a few Revo complaints, but not many.

Good Luck!

Default It would be hard to beat having an installer 5 miles away...

The closest one to me is about 300 miles! I've been running it (with SPS1) for almost two years with no problems. Some have had issues with overboosting causing an intake "screech", but those problems have apparently been resolved in newer versions or re-flashes. Daily drivability is great...just driving it normal, you always have power when you need it. It's much easier to jockey for position in traffic with the extra power. I haven't monitored the fuel efficiency, but others say mileage has actually gone up. I can't speak for the other chips out there....it usually comes down to convenience and reliability for most.

Default go with whoever is closest...

this way if or whenever you have a problem, it can easily be addressed without the hassle of taking it somewhere far away. ya can't beat 5 miles away! plus i have revo and love it, never a problem or screech, car actually runs a lot smoother than stock IMHO. I went with the SPS3 because you can change a bunch of different modes, and you can really feel the difference.

Default Driveability and fuel economy both improved.

If you're still under warranty, get the switch (SPS1) so you can go back to stock for dealer visits or when someone borrows the car that you don't want playing around too much.

Default Re: Driveability and fuel economy both improved.

I have a 2001 225TT with 16K miles and would like to chip it. Who should I use, (I live in San Diego), and what should I expect in performance gains, not just HP and torque but 0-60 times. Will it take care of poor take off with AC on? Any other ideas for gains in power with dependability? New to this Forum so bear with me if I don't post correctly. Thanks, TTerifc

Default My experience has been....

I'm a conservative modder, worried about warranty so all I have is a DVR (takes a bit of the turbo lag off), REVO (gives you the low end tourque and increases the HP) and the TTDA which tied everything together by smoothing the power curve and partially negates the HP loss with the AC (although I haven't done heavy summer yet). Every one of these conservative mods increased mpg with REVO giving me about 3-4 mpg and TTDA about 100 mptank on the freeway. This is on a 2002 180 QC. The DVR hasn't been noticed by the dealer (stealth black), REVO I set back to stock and the TTDA I switch back to OEM for dealer visits.

Default GIAC advice anyone?

OK, after going through the posts and responses (thanks) I was ready to get the REVO.
I confirmed with the installer today that they no longer carry it (surging problems they said) and they now do GIAC.
They are local and pretty easy to get to, so I'm inclined to try it.
What's the feedback on GIAC?
Thanks!
