Default iPod Charging?
I have the iPod connection in my glove compartment, and it seems to work fine, but it doesn't charge the iPod when hooked up. Is it supposed to?

The easiest way is to connect it to the Apple iPod Power Adapter. You can also charge it by connecting iPod to your computer or putting it in its optional dock.

I know all that....but in my wife's Volvo the iPod charges when its connected the car system.....in my TT, it doesn't charge.....

I sure thought my Ipod nano charged when plugged in, I'll have to check and get back to you. Is this a recent ipod that maybe changed charge pins on their connector?

Mine always did. What model iPod are you trying to charge?

it's an iPod Touch 64 GB, about 8 months old.....

Older model iPods require 12v to charge whereas your second generation iPod Touch requires 5v to charge. Unfortunately the Audi iPod adapter in your TT is only set up for 12v and requires and adapter to step down to 5v. qtroCUB posted a what looks like a good solution above.

As a backup test, try an older model iPod with the Audi iPod adapter. If an older iPod charges then you know the system works and you just need an adapter to charge your iPod Touch.

looking at this adapter above.....it must have a female and male end, right? I'm concerned that my ipod will hang out more from this tiny glove compartment, and probably the door will hit it.

Has anyone else used an adapter like this in their TT?
