Default MTM Flash update.

Well I called Joe hoppen motorsports on monday and ordered the MTM Flash for my TTS, talked with Mike there for a bit, after than convo he sent out MTM's box for me to flash at home. I must say this is a great feature for me. I was originally holding out for APR but grew to impatient(I have that problem). So for $75 Hoppen overnights all you need to flash your car, a box with a CD to load on a Windows computer along with a OBD II cable that is attached to a black box and another usb key. After receiving the box I got ready to do my flash, you call Mike at hoppen to walk you through the process. It is very simple. The process is read the ECU then email that file to Hoppen they modify it, and email it back to you, normally would take 10-20 min if that. However for me my ECU was a newer version and they had to write a file for me, so they did that Tuesday night and Mike Emailed it to me just after lunch yesterday. After receiving the modified file I started the flash. The flash took about 15 min to load up and then I was done. (I really like the way this is done, it worked very well for me. To have been flashed by GIAC or APR I was looking at at least 1.5-2hr drive to their nearest dealer one way. So the 75 was well worth it to have it next day and not have to go anywhere.)

So as soon at I packed up the laptop it was time for a test drive, around town the chip is very smooth and very stock like, so much so I was actually thinking that it didn't work. Well that impression changed as soon as the road opened up and I was able to do a standing start full throttle start. OMFG this thing now moves. I knew the car was quick before but it is so much faster than my previous B6 S4 with GIAC flash and AWE exhaust. The TTS is a good 10mph faster at distance than the S4 ever was. The car just pulls and pulls much like my V8, it just doesn't stop. For those of you have have had a turbo car and chipped it before you know what I am saying when it transforms the car to a different animal. Only downside of this is that now I want to add the DP to my Milltek exhaust, and reflash with the 330hp program MTM has for the full exhausts. The flash was so good I put 100 miles on the car after the flash. Also my MPG improved this am on my commute to work, so that is a nice bonus. I am sure I will counter that gain from the morning when I go home today. Now all I need to do is get my snow tires off!

Default It was 499 for the program, 75 for the use of the flash loader.

To upgrade to the next one is ~100 for the program and 75 for the flashloader

Default ..what programs do they have? can you switch through them using the center display like ARP...

as I'm sure you're not using some sort of bootloader like the GIAC every time you want to change something..

Default Thanks for the news. Does it effect the sound characteristics of the car?

Exhaust, Engine, DV etc?

Default No there is no other programs.

From what I have read on MTM chips in the past, is they are much like the stock program and can adjust for various octane's. On my GIAC I almost never switch programs. So that feature isn't of importance to me.

Edit, as I was reading more, MTM is also more so Octane specific.

Default Yes you hear much more.

With the windows up, since it is cold here in NY, It seems as tho my exhaust got a little deeper, you do hear more of the turbo and air coming in. All bonuses for me. Thought the car was a little to quite.

Bravo! I agree that they did a little too good of a sound deadening job.

Default Gracias for the update !! So the question for You and everybody here is......

Any good reason to wait for GIAC or APR ?

AND now that You have the EXTRA hp , Would You consider HPA's DSG / S-Tronic Performance Programming ??

Default Re: MTM Flash update.

this might be a noobish question, but does doing this void the warranty? Can a dealer tell you have flashed the car?

sounds cool...keep us updated!

thanx
