My drive in the TT - MK1 vs MK2
I currently own a MK1 TT coupe. Love it. Period.
So my first drive was brief. The first US spec TT's showed up at AoA and was invited to take a quick spin. You can imagine how excited I was and then I sat in it....hmmm....didn't "feel" like a TT was my first thought. It did feel like all Audi interiors do, which is amazing, but not like the MK1. That distraction prevented me from truly enjoying the drive.
Drive #2
These TT's in question were the first US spec vehicles and belonged to AoA. I'm not sure if they would then be press cars, but none the less, some miles needed to be put on them as well as some feedback. My friend who works at AoA decided to pay me a visit in London Ontario.
My views on this car did a complete 180! wow, wow, wow. That is all I can say. Most rags have said great things about this car, but I would love to see an article written from a current TT owner's point of view.
Yes, the interior isn't as invigorating as the MK, but no car at that price point will probably ever be.
Everything just felt perfect. Turn in, throttle response, power delivery, fit/finish and the feeling you are driving a "TT" is there is spades!
I was chased down by a MK1 TT roadster, drove through UWO (local university) and had about 1/2 dozen honks and a few people giving the thumbs up.
My advice to those placing orders - pay the extra for the extended leather pkg. The stock interior looks good, but with that pkg - amazing. Very much worth the money.
The vehicle I drove was a 2.0T 6spd man, stock suspension, and stock interior.
You have to see, feel and drive this thing in person to truly appreciate how true yet they kept the Mk2 to the MK1 yet bringing it up to date at the same time.
For those of you who are getting on - good on you. I'm officially jealous

Enjoy
Not spreading any hype in the sense that you are thinking.
