central locking system -> Enabling remote?

Is there a way I can alter the central locking system to enable the use of the remote key fob if the car's ignition is ON, or running?

I would use this for cold mornings so I can lock my car with an alternate remote.

Yes, no, maybe... We have no idea what vehicle you are talking about....

FWIW, it doesn't do the engine good to run at idle when being cold. Besides the procedure you are talking about is forbidden in a number of countries I know of (i.e. Germany).

2000 Audi TT quattro.

Does it do the engine and other components good to be driving them in 20*F weather?

They sell auto-start units for cars here in the USA, and idling them I don't believe is illegal.

Definitly a no on that model then...

...they sell a lot of stuff in the US and just because its being sold doesn't proof its legal either.

FWIW, I was referring to German law as well as some other European countries here.

For the engine its better to drive it warm rather quickly (not too hard of course) instead of idling with no load because it takes much longer that way to actually get warm and runs longer cold of course.
