Default check engine light

I have a 2008 A6 3.2T and the engine light comes on and stays on. The coils have been replaced and both camshaft sensors. Measuring value 93.2 is 9.36 after sensors were replaced and Audi says this is at the high level. The light has come back on a day after service and I am concerned that this would require a VERY expensive tensioner replacement.

If I don't do this will this affect the engine and will I be able to pass NJ MV inspection?
