Default Question re: testing ABS controller

I have an '01 TT with a wonky ABS light. When the car is cold, the airbag light will stay on for several minutes after a start... starting to flicker erratically until it goes completely off. This takes 5-10 mins depending on outside temps, staying on longer the colder it is outside. It's done this for years although the length of time it stays on has gotten longer in the last year or so. When the car was newer, the dealer couldn't find any problem (it only lit up for a minute or 2 back then and I'll bet the tech never saw it, by the time the porter pulled it into the shop).

The airbag controller has never thrown a code -- even when the light is on or flickering in front of my eyes, as I'm scanning it. I've tried disconnecting/reconnecting various connectors to no avail. And it's done this with 2 separate instrument clusters, so I doubt it's a bad cluster.

Question: Because the airbag controller shows no DTCs, is it wise to assume the problem is elsewhere? I know that seatbelt connectors and other things can trigger the light. Any tips on sleuthing this out with my Vag-com? I've also posted this on Bentley's forums and found several others with the problem, but nobody has a solution. I'm stumped. \_Q_/

TIA, ~john

Default More data, checking measuring blocks...

Still no DTCs... Reading measuring blocks with the ignition on/engine off shows:

Group 001 ~"Correct" resistance in values 1 through 4
(that is, both front airbags and both seat belt pretensioners)

Group 006 ~"Correct" resistance in values 1 and 2
(that is, driver's and pass' side airbag igniters)

And yet the light still comes on at a cold start, eventually flickering erratically before finally turning out after about 10 mins. The Bentley CD offers little help in sleuthing this out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having this exact same issue, now that temps have dropped.
