S8 - Two persistent error codes - Any ideas?
I keep getting error codes on the same 2 components - on a two week old car.
Error 1) Address 1E: Media Player 2
02261 - Media Player; Position 1 (R118)
014 - Defective
Error 2) Address 61: Battery Regul.
2 Faults Found:
02272 - Rest Current Stage 1
000 - - - Intermittent
02273 - Rest Current Stage 2
000 - - - Intermittent
or:
1 Fault Found:
02275 - Rest Current Stage 4
I cleared the fault codes a couple of times and re-scanned but I persistently get the same error on the media player and the same or another error on the battery regulator.
I took the car to the dealer for an oil change (I didn't mention anything about the fault codes) but the dealer simply deleted them from the memory.
Does anyone know what these codes mean?

The faults in the Battery Regulation
mean that it thinks your battery is getting a tad low and it's asking other systems to shed load. This is pretty much normal on those cars if you leave the ignition on for any length of time without the engine running.
As far as Media Player 2, I'm not even sure exactly what that system is in your car. Post the ID data from it. Does all the entertainment stuff in the car work as it should?

Yes, Radio, CD, TV, ipod (as well as the rather entertaining back massage feature) work fine as far as I can tell.

Brought it to the dealer and inquired about the Media Player fault
kinda funny actually...
the mechanic plugs the car into the "official" diagnostics thingy, sees the error codes....
and says: "Hmm. I've no idea what this is. Probably something to do with the audio system. Never mind. I'll just erase it for you..."
As I'm standing over his shoulder, STUNNED!
"Dude, shouldn't you know something more? You're an authorized Audi shop"
"Well, these are really complicated cars. Have a good day, Sir."

It's true, they are really complicated,
the MMI system has over 100 MB of software (not counting the Navigation Data!) and it's simply not unusual for for it throw some spurious fault codes.
As I said, if everything works as it should, I wouldn't worry about it.
