Soft Coding VS Long Coding

I have a 2007 Audi Q7 and am using a generic cable with VCDS 805.1. Everything seems to work fine, I can code what I want as long as it is the soft coding. I never get the option for long coding except for when I try to code the gateway, I see the long coding helper there.

Is this a by-product of using the generic cable with 805? I also tried VCDS-lite and have the same results.

Or is it that I just cant use long coding?

There is no such thing as a generic VCDS 805.1. You have an illegal clone copy of our VCDS product. VCDS-Lite will not work well with your Q7 if it works at all.

If you want and need full functions, visit Ross-Tech's website and buy the real VCDS.

Question about your other comment. Is it that the cable won't work correctly with VCDS-Lite or is it that VCDS has specific functionality for a Q7 that VCDS-Lite does not?

VCDS-Lite appears to function with my cable but maybe that is why I don't get the long coding helper...and maybe why some coding doesn't remain after several hours.
