Default vag-com compatible with
the 1990 coupe quattro? I see the connectors and the software find the controller but it does not read any fault codes...
even do the engine light comes on while driving over 70mph and the engine is warmed up, thanks.

Default If VAG-COM finds the ECU, then it's compatible
But understand that the fault detection logic on a 1990 ECU is rudimentary at best and VAG-COM can only show you faults which the ECU has detected (and stored).
