vag com functionality

Is the vagcom able to change the timing using the same steps used with the 1552? I was told the timing module for thge 1552 was a dealer only thing and I really only purchased the vag com to do logging (more channels available for simultaneous logging/capture please) and I am very happy with it for that function alone. The 1552 is very small and handy but I would like to know if the VC can do timing so I could leave one home, the 1552 doesnt record the logs for multiple sensors/functions. I understand there is a fuel module for the 1552 too but who knows which butt to kiss to get it. Thanks for any advice, I am very much a novice to VC and dont want to mess up the ECU.

Also can someone direct me to info page (??) on logging (how to) and download inst/spreadsheet import (for dummies edition if available)?

If you can do it with a 1552, you can do it with VAG-COM

Logging: Set up the data you want to log in Measuring Blocks, then click the LOG button, decide whether you want to keep the default file name or change it, then click the START button.

Inport into Excel: The output files should open in Excel by double clicking on them in Explorer.

Exception: People using a European language verision of Excel such as German where the use of commas and periods in numbers are reversed from the English standard should use the CSVConv.exe program on your logs before opening them with Excel.
