Variable service interval reset

I am convinced my garage has set my service interval back to 12,000 miles instead of being on a variable service interval. How do I check this with vag com and if it is wrong how do I change the setting so that the car IS back on a variable service interval (usualy 20,000miles or so)

Car is a 2002 A6 - 2.5 Tdi

Read instrument cluster channels 40-49, channel 45 gives the oil quality value.
