VCDS on Linux
Out of curiosity, has anybody tried running VCDS on Unbuntu with a compatibility layer? I know that there are some Windows applications that just don't work which means I have to maintain dual boot on my laptop.
Also VCDS related, will it work like a conventional OBDII scanner and read the universal OBDII error codes, monitor status, freeze frame and real time data on non VAG cars or is it truly VAG only? I had a quick look at the Ross-Tech website and I didn't find anything explicit.

I was curious about the same thing. I have a Win10 desktop, but for portable use I only use a Chromebook, and I plan to convert that to Linux (GalliumOS) soon. I read on a Skoda forum that VCDS works in Virtualbox under Linux - install, plug in, enable USB device. I don't know how the VCDS licencing works in that situation, but I have a 2004 so I only need the shareware version for now.
