Default Newbie question about tires

I used to have an S3, and I bought snow tires (not wheels, just tires) for it. They are 235/35-19 (19" tires).

I'm looking at getting an A5/S5 eventually, and their tires are 255/35-19.

Can the S3 snow tires by used on the A5/S5? Is it a "it won't fit on the rims" issue, or a "it will work but at the cost of X" issue?

Thanks!

A3 tires will not have appropriate load characteristics for an A5/S5.

To be sure, the heavier A5 / S5 uses a wider / taller tire for more load capacity (255/35R19 you mentioned) for reference, so anything smaller would be very likely to bubble / blowout due to being overloaded. The smaller (overall) diameter will not make your traction control system happy either !
