question about offset

i have a set of BBS RGR 5x112 with 35mm offset (from my 01 A4 that i no longer own)... my wife has a 06 Jetta and according to the tirerack website.. they recommend a 50mm offset for the same wheel

my question is, can the rims fit on my wife's jetta? or do i need some sort of adapter?? i have no idea how this whole offset thing works

Won't work

Unless you want to flare the fenders on your wife's car.

You can put her wheels on your car using spacers, but not the other way around due to the offset differences.

Are Jetta's even a 5x112 bolt pattern, or are they 5x100?

latest model is 5x112, but runs a much higher offset.

Nope, A3 is built on same platform as Jetta, and has same offset as Jetta.

The stock MKV Jetta wheels have offsets of 50+.
