Width difference

Anyone can tell me what is the problem with putting 8.5 in front 10 in the rear if the diameter of the wheel is same ?

It doesn't really matter as long as the diameter of the TIRES is the same.

Now depending on the car(such as the A4), it may make the car understeer(push) too much due to added grip in the rear.

I can't think of a reason not to do it, though I can't think of a good reason TO do it either.

Agreed.. and assuming the wheels wil fit the car too.

Reverse the F and R and you are doing something right.
