1998 A4Q2.8: replacing Dunlop SP9000
Time for replacing the SP9000's, which I've liked. Good wear & performance year round in New England.
Mixed highway/town driving...it's the (leadfooted) wife's car.
70-80MPH highway driving.
Need acceptable winter/snow grip.
Haven't read anything positive about the current Dunlops....
Looking at:
Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3
Anyone running these? Thoughts?
Or other options?
Thanks
Ted

The Dunlop SP Sport 9000 was a summer only performance tire, so if you thought those had good year-round performance, you will be absolutely thrilled with the winter performance of either of these all season tires. To maintain the summer grip of the SP9000, I would lean towards the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3.

My mistake....thought they were SP9000. Have those on my scirocco...
replacing SP signature installed 2010; had SP5000 before that.
Still same thought?

Conti DWS have good reviews too.
I have been running ADVAN Sport A/S Yokohama’s Ultra High Performance All-Season tire in the summer on my RS4 for the past 6 years

Tire technology has come a long was since the old SP5000 tires, especially in wet and dry grip. Between the two, the Bridgestone RE970 has better snow/winter traction and a bit softer ride while the Michelin A/S three has quicker steering response and wet/dry traction so good that it rivals many summer-only tires.

Reggie, I'm interested in this tire and have read it's replacing the UHP S.4. Have you driven the ADVAN Sport A/S yet? One of the Tire Rack guys say a test is just about to come out comparing with the Hankook's that top your UHP all season chart, and others. . .
