2019 Audi R8 V10 Performance Model Tweaked to Perfection

Updated R8
Audi has released the updated R8, and by god, they have completely outdone themselves. The R8 has always been an amazing car. It has the performance and looks to match the supercar motif that it certainly fulfills. However, the 2019 updates to the existing platform move a car that once brought Audi into a new era further forward into the forefront of automotive design, technology, and performance. Updated Nameplate
European markets will see the updated platform first, with new models hitting dealers early next year. The nameplate has changed though, so if you are in the market next year for an R8, keep a keen eye. The previous R8 Coupe V10 Plus and R8 V10 Spyder Plus will be renamed the R8 Coupe/Spyder Performance.

What’s Different?
The updated R8 still rides on the same platform as last year, but with several tweaks. The most obvious ones are the looks. The new R8 looks wider, more aggressive and sports an updated design. On the front, the grill grows slightly, consistent with Audi’s mindset of bigger is better. The redesigned secondary grills in the front, with fins splitting the intakes from the far edge, completely change the look of the front of the car. The new headlights give the R8 a more pronounced signature, an important accent for a car that started the LED headlight revolution. Coming around to the side, the side skirts sport a separate accent piece, making it appear lower and more pronounced.

Bringing Up the Rear
Around the rear is a smaller but wider diffuser, boasting a slim vent directly above. The diffuser is flanked by the massive grey accented oval pipes, reminiscent of Audi’s RS vehicles. A rear grill spans the entirety of the bumper with openings that tease the internals of the modern supercar.

Know Your Roots
The original R8 was a historic vehicle. It brought Audi into the more modern era, spearheaded the rebuilding of the brand, and set a precedence for Audi. The vehicle was a true “halo car” and let everyone know that Audi wasn’t here to play, they were here to win. The R8 was an accessible supercar, but still truly special. You would see them on the street, and a huge number of dealers had them in the showrooms to draw customers in. Audi had the products to back the dominant people's supercar that was the R8. The newest iteration of the Audi supercar continues to adds to that legacy of excellence.
