Ingolstadt – After tackling the United States in 2008, Europe in 2009 and China in 2011, Audi will now take on the Alps in its fourth long-distance tour. The Audi Land of quattro Alpen Tour 2013 begins on September 23. With the concentrated power of the new RS models, Audi will once again be demonstrating the efficiency of quattro permanent all-wheel drive.

4,440 km (2,759 miles), 44 Alpine passes and four new RS models with four-wheel drive. Those are the key figures for the Audi Land of quattro Alpen Tour 2013 that begins on September 23 and will lead through six countries. The route includes twelve driving stages starting from Klagenfurt – the capital of Carinthia, Austria – to Monaco and back again.

quattro is a unique success story that has helped define Audi for more than three decades now. The company has delivered more than five million quattro models to date, giving the brand with the four rings a higher share of all-wheel drive vehicles than any other premium brand. In 2013, four new RS models with quattro drive as standard equipment offer additional sporty highlights.

The participants will be driving four top quattro models. Franciscus van Meel, Managing Director of quattro GmbH, is eagerly looking forward to the Alpen Tour: “2013 is the year of quattro GmbH. Along with the the RS 5 Cabriolet, RS 6 Avant and the RS 7 Sportback, the RS Q3 is the fourth RS model we are bringing on the market in 2013. This means we are currently offering the customer a product portfolio of eight models – the biggest range of RS models in our history.” As a special treat, the legendary Audi quattro and Sport quattro will also be accompanying the tour.
