Checked fault codes? Does it run on starting fluid? Crankshaft position sensor is a common no start failure on these. They usually will set a fault code.

No fault codes. Im in the process of checking all sensors. Its quite frustrating. Hoping not to have it be the timing

New here, so im sorry for that, but i just bought an 01 A4 quattro 1.8t with a blown turbo that wouldnt start. i thought for sure the turbo was ok because, the previous owners records stated the shop determined bad turbo because of blowing a lot of smoke, but they also waaay overfilled the oil, so i assumed they blocked the drain pipe and that was why it was smoking. I checked the codes and i got the P0010 code. Drained oil to proper level, replaced the cam sensor, and it fired up, blowing a ton of smoke for about 5 mins, then died, and threw the P0010 again. So the intake cam pos sensor may be the problem...

I know im hijacking, but what can anyone recommend a reputable place to get a good quality B5 1.8 turbo cartridge? Thanks

It's unlikely the cam sensor problem is causing the smoke. You either have a blown head gasket or there is still something wrong with the turbo.
Its possible the turbo seals are bad, and replacing those is alot cheaper than getting a whole new cartridge.
