Got a steal, time to beef it up
Bought a used (74k miles) 2000 A4 1.8T Quattro sedan. I love this thing. It was most likely driven by a granny before me-in great shape. What do y'all recommend I should do to beef it up a bit? My thoughts were to take it to the tranny shop and get it tuned up for starts. I'm worried about blowing the 1.8L engine if I put a bigger turbo on it (without re-doing the entire engine). Cold air intake sounds fun, but how much would it help? Help me out. I'm young and not a mechanic. Get creative.

These are strong engines, 400 horse on stock internals is about the limit, LOT AND LOTS of info out there, just google it. There lots of aftermarket and tuning. You say transmission shop, sooo is it an Auto or manual, Autos sure dont like much more power than a chip. Your easiest bang for buck easy power would be performance chip, APR or Giac. 210 horse in these cars is plenty zippy. If you want more its gonna cost...
Also if its only got 74k and its an 00, make sure the timing belt is replaced, its very much overdue age wise.

Thank you for the reply. It's a manual. Automatic wouldn't be much fun in my opinion
I've looked at APR tuning but didn't know how reliable it was. I'm sure a KO4 turbo and APR tuning would be quite the difference in this vehicle.
