Dash warning symbol help needed:
Sorry to bother, but was wondering if anyone could help me...
Wife just called and there is a warning symbol on her dash (2003 A4 Cabriolet)this morning during her morning commute. Of course, she has no idea what it is and the manual is in the garage at home (long story..)
She described it as looking like a "video/camera with a lightning bolt thru it"...
So.. it sounds to me like it might be a battery power indicator, but I'm not sure.
Any ideas? I'd like to know what it is and am hoping somebady here can help.
TIA!

Sounds a little like the ESP aka traction control device...
It has a round thing with a warning looking bolt in the middle. It will flash when the system detects slipping to let you know it is working. You can also press the ESP button to turn it off and the icon will stay solid. When it is malfunctioning, the icon will also stay solid. cheers! Mike

FYI...I think it is "Malfunction indicator lamp"
This pdf shows it as an engine, but my car also has a lightning bolt through it. Lol....it does look like a video camera.(I also like how it has a carberator on top) those haven't been around for a while.

http://www.audiusa.com/common/myaudiManualsPdf/myaudiQRG_A4_all_2003_en.pdf</a

It's one of two air sensors in the car ...more
The light came on for me as well one time, and I thought that it was the CEL. Turns out that I had gone through a really deep puddle, at least 3/4 to the top of the wheel wells, and water got into my exhaust. Took a day for the light to go out; the time it took for the water to evaporate I would believe. I was told that as long as the light is on continuously and not blinking then there's really no problem. Check the owner's manual, they have a writeup about it in there. I'm at work now, so I'm not close to my car. Also, don't forget that the A4 has a special slot under the steering wheel to keep the manual and its case - pretty handy if you ask me.

Thanks guys... not sure we nailed it, butI'll know tonight.
If it's any thing odd, I'll post it.
FWIW, I think it's the fuel cap indicator trying to tell her that her gas cap isn't on all the way, but we'll see.
Thanks!

Yes, the MIL is a picture of a little motor with a lightning bolt and "check" under it...
The traction control or ESP light is a circle like thing with a "!" in the middle. cheers! mike

Update:
CEL details via VAG-Com:
16825 - Evap Emission Control Sys: Incorrect Flow
002 - Lower Limit Exceeded
It was a pure and simple CEL. I think the above dtc is related to the Gas Cap. I cleared the DTC and the light's off - for now.
