Default How many miles after cam follower disaster?

You guys share great information however I wasn't paying much attention until it was too late Had some hesitation problems and intermittent CEL on my 08' 2.0T A4, so I dropped the car off for inspection. I am now spending $2000-$3000 to fix the aftermath of my cam-follower breaking into pieces and the impending damage resulting from it. My mechanic is warning me about the engine eating itself even after it's been repaired.

My question to you guys is how many of you have made the repairs and are still putting on the miles? How many miles since?

I am also a little disgusted in Audi for not doing anything about the problem that is no different than the previous years that were warrantied to 120k.

make sure they drop the oil pan, clean the pickup screen really well.. I'm amazed that Audi doesn't cover your year... my mom had an 07 VW GTI, did the same thing.. VW covered it.. though she ended up trading the car for a TDI..

I replaced the cam follower on my car at 111,000 miles (or thereabouts) and it had wear, but was not horrible. I have no idea if the previous owners had replaced it at any point though.

It's been fixed and now I'm torn between selling and keeping it. It's a black 6-speed with 98,000 miles and has the S-line body (all 08's...). Would prolly sell for about 12,000 if anyone was interested. Located in Western Wisconsin, Twin Cities, MN. No formal ads for the sale yet.
