Need help diagnosising Cold start clicking/rattling noise
Hey guys, I have a 2008 A4 2.0t Auto. I've noticed a loud clicking/rattling noise when the car is started cold (during cold temps, ie. below 40 degrees).
It last for several minutes (not seconds). It goes away when car warms up (takes about 5-10mins).
Car drives fine no issues to my knowledge.
No oil pressure lights came on.
I do have a problem of burning oil however. Mechanic advised to just keep putting in oil then getting it fixed.
Please advise what the noise maybe and how much it could cost to fix.
(can any one recommend a good mechanic in the Baltimore area?)

I checked my 2007 A4 2.0T cam follower soon after I bought it in September. It was in good condition. From what I can remember, the cam follower issues were reported only for 2005.5 and 2006 models. I am not too worry about your 2008, but agree it should be checked out.
I did replace my PCV and N80 valves. They are inexpensive DIY. You would need the ElsaWin manual or a good mechanic to check the cam chain tensioner.
