A4 Low MPG
Hi All,
New owner of a CPO A4 2.0T QUATTRO. Just over 6k miles on it when purchased and I have driven about 800. Noticed that after first 3 tanks or so I am averaging only 19-20 mpg (280-310 per tank) in 50/50 city/highway driving. This seems low to me. I drove a diesel Passat prior and averaged about 35-36ish over the course of a year (just mentioning to show city vs. highway). I am a bit worried. I have heard/read that after 1-2k miles of driving that it will improve/adjust to driving habits, etc. Not sure how true that is?? I've checked my tire pressure and all is good. Don't know a ton about cars ESP the technical specs. First time owning an Audi. Any thoughts/experiences/opinions/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

You certainly won't get anywhere near the mileage of the Passat TDI. I had a 2009 A4 and IIRC averaged low 20mpgs with 65% hwy/ 35% city. What year is your A4? The earlier B8's with the 7 speed transmissions (2009-2010 I believe) got slightly lower mileage than the later ones with 8 speed transmissions. Check out stats from fuelly - avg seems to be around 24 mpg:
Audi A4 Quattro Mileage | Fuelly
By comparison, my A6 TDI consistently gets 30-32 mpg (measured by the tankful).

That's unusually low for a 2.0.
I get 290 - 300 miles on a tank of gas on my V8 S5 for city driving and 360-370 miles for highway. And this is on a V8.
My 2013 Audi allroad achieved 30 - 32 on the highway once I crossed the 9000 mile range on my Odometer. This is the same 2.0 turbo engine you have. You should achieve at least 28-29 on the highway. I average 25 MPG for city driving on my allroad.

I thought the same as far as it being unusually low. Checked my tire psi and everything was all good there. I'm going to give it a couple thousand miles and see if it increases before I take it in.
