Bugged car?
Earlier this week, I decided to take a different route home from work. As I was exiting the highway, a brand-new A4 passed by on the road onto which I was merging. He stopped at the light and I pulled up behind him. In his rear window was a large decal that said: "Hoffman Audi Courtesy Loaner Car." That's one way to advertise, I thought.
Almost immediately, my radar detector began to beep. Since I was not moving, I didn't give it a second thought. Then the light turned green, and the new A4 and I both took a left turn. As we drove down the road, my detector -- an Escort 850 -- continued to beep.
To make a long story short, I followed this loaner car about four or five miles, turning onto various streets, and my radar detector continued to beep. Finally, we came to a major intersection not too far from my house and the new Audi turned left, and I continued to go straight. At that point, my radar detector went silent.
This leads me to believe that the dealership had installed in the loaner car some sort of tracking device that was setting off my Escort. Yes, I know that another radar detector can sometimes set off a detector in another car, but in the four or five years that I have owned the Escort, I have not witnessed this happening.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?

You must be around Hartford or New London.....I work part-time as a driver at AudiWarwick in RI am leaving for work shortly....I'm going to ask if we have any such devices on our large fleet of loaners, which range from A3's to A8's and everything in between.

Yes, it is the blind spot monitoring. It is not tracking of any kind; emissions stop when the car is off.
My own car was setting off my radar detector (Valentine 1). It was K band, I believe. I had to disable the rear reception of that band to shut it off.

Several people have confirmed that 2014+ Audi's use a different frequency for their blind spot monitoring. It can't be filtered out with V1 J mode (K POP off) like the 2013 and older Audis. Maybe that explains it?
