will a k04 fit my 09 audi a4 2.0?
will a k04 turbo rpelacement fit my 09 audi a4 2.0? I got the engine light on, took it to the dealer. They cleared the code, told be if it come back on I would have to see if I can work something out because of a extended warranty on the stock turbos. Someone on craigslist is selling a k04 from his 1.8t. I was going to see if they could replace it free of charge but i have 90,000mile son my car and it covers it up to 70, 000 miles or 7 years, I'm guessing whichever comes first.

Turbochargers used to be a device that bolted to the exhaust manifold. The length of the exhaust path made the turbo take longer to spool up before the power of compressed air could be felt. this turbo lag is undesirable for a couple of reasons. The first is the lag, but also a loss of heat. It is heat that turns the turbo, not the wind blowing out the exhaust pipe. With the 2009 cars, the turbine half of the turbo is part of the manifold casting. This makes it nice and close to the engine, but also nice and expensive because there is no place to purchase it except from VW AG.
I am not sure who makes it, but it has earmarks of a Garrett unit. Garrett makes reman kits for many of their units, and there are loads of shops that rebuild turbo's.
No one is providing parts, nor offering a rebuild service for CAEB engines. I suspect there are too few units that have failed out of warranty to make rebuilders excited. There is the odd shop out there (usually at truck stops) that will have a tech that can make or modify parts to get the unit to work, but expect to pay dearly for that expertise. There are some that claim to rebuild, but the prices suggest they are selling new or reman units from VW.
As for the K04, there are a shelf load of variations of the same basic part, and none of them will bolt on. Even if it would, software to make it work is not really available, and will require other parts from the MAF sensor back to make it work. Some K04 turbo's that are suitable as an upgrade for VW products that have lower performance versions of the K04, including the older TT Audi's.
For a 2009 A4 with a CAEB engine, you have one choice.

The turbo on my '09 A4 was made by IHI FWIW, not garrett.

I would guess that it would, I have the K04 on my 2012 avant. Its a nice upgrade, you will want to do the intercooler plus get the ECU upgrade, mine is APR.
I chose the Eurocode FMIC, I also upgraded to the R8 coil packs, though not sure I needed to.
