Default Trunk popped open at 60mph

So i was driving up the Garden State Parkway tonight when my trunk popped open by itself. Anyone else experience this? Fortunately I had nothing in it, but kinda scary...

Wow, crazy, glad your okay! Take it back to dealer to look at it. Sounds like a electrical trip of some kind.

Yeah, crazy. I would think it couldn't be electronically tripped while the car is moving.

Default Because this is New Jersey...

… and I can't avoid a bad joke: Did anybody jump out?

Seriously though, good thing nothing flew out - at speed, the rising trunk creates quite a negative pressure that can suck stuff out the back. Your latch system should be adjustable to insure a better catch. Has the car been in an accident at some point that may have compromised the relationship between the latch and the hasp?

Happy Motoring

Eric

Did you sit on the key and hit the trunk release? It could happen. I had a garage door opener in my jacket pocket a couple of years ago and when I turned around to look out the rear window and started to back out, the garage door came down on the roof of a (new A4) loaner car. Ripped the satellite antenna right off! But that's another story.

Twice my B9's trunk has popped open after I closed it and was walking around the car. But I would hate for that to happen at 60 mph!

So A4D, my keys were in the passenger seat minding their own business... and no Eric, no accident. Thinking of taking it to the dealer, but not sure what diag they can do. Seems an isolated incident since no one has replied that it has happened to them.

It wouldn't hurt to take it in. Maybe the dealership has seen this from someone not on AW. And, not a bad idea to have it reported on your car in case something comes up down the road.

The keyfob commands don't work when the car is running.

NOt accusing, but perhaps the latch wasn't fully engaged the last time it was closed prior to that trip. Did anyone else close the trunk that day or in the recent past?
