Too much play in automatic shifter Audi A6(C5)
Hey guys,
The Auto shifter feels very loose and has too much play when shifting from Park to Drive or Reverse, sometimes requiring an extra nudge to before it clicks in and the vehicle can begin to move. Otherwise, the car drives and shifts fine once in the appropriate mode.
What could be potential causes for this ?
Thanks in advance for any advice !

Sounds like its worn out plastic part in the shifter. You will need to remove the shift ****, the wood around it, the chrome cover piece, and look inside and see what is loose. If it was the cable itself it usually will freak the transmission computer out and set the transmission in limp mode if it doesn't see the range sensor in the correct spot.
