Recently acquired a 2003 Audi A6 quattro 3.0L it has a horrible misfire plus cats get red red hot after idle for about 10mins or so i replaced all the vacuum lines also replaced crankcase breather valve and breather lines checked and cleaned fuel injectors good pressure and spray also checked coil packs by swapping the missing cylinders with other and it didnt change spark plugs were about .010 under gap gapped to .044 now the car will sit and idle it will misfire but it will continue idle and also catch from a high rpm drop and not die so i dont believe it is timing ive been elbow deep in this for a week plz help car has 196k on it beautiful car if the damn thing would run right

This is the wrong forum, and i know next to nothing about the 3L. I would say that its bent valves or timing that is off. Or something along those lines. Do you have VCDS to scan for codes?
