Mine is a 2012 Premium+, no HUD. I am on my 4th windshield as of about one year ago. All had cracks moving out from the chip within a day of the impact. Audi charged me $700 for the first one; the two replacements I've had are Indys who charged about $350. I decided to carry glass insurance as a separate item, and since then have not had a problem. But I am expecting another incident any time.

I was happy to learn that my insurance has no deductible for windshield repair.

Most policies these days have no deductible glass coverage. Many will require you use the glass installer they have a contract with although, with some insistence, they will source OEM glass.

4th replacement?! Are you kidding me? I know car owners that have had cars 10+ years and have never had to replace a windshield but if so have had to do it once, twice tops.

It's all a matter of miles driven, types of roads traveled and a roll of the dice. Winter driving adds extra risk. It only takes one rock to hit in a certain way and you're windshield is toast.

Of course miles driven and roads. But if you have a personal cloud hanging over your head, one might be better off going back inside and turning off the electricity. (I really shouldn't have typed this. Hope bad karma doesn't apply to keyboard strokes)
