Breaking in to my S8 - help please!

Dealers have have big glass windows to see people like you coming from afar.
D2's have been around for a long time now and we all know how fragile the gearboxes are so that means loads of them are sitting in breakers yards
Just as an example here's a complete door glass for beer money link
As far as getting into the car through the glass is concerned its not that difficult, see this
So assuming that the OP bought the knife and the second hand glass it would still be a fraction of the price at about 100$
So are you still laughing so hard now?
While some of your ideas might work like the power feed on the chassis rail, IMO breaking the triangle glass like you mention will involve the skills of a glass installer as its bonded to the body invoking more cost.
Perhaps you might try engaging your grey matter before your so quick to scorn others when they are offering ideas to help someone who needs it.
Hi Marty,
Are you laughing as hard as I am? A new door window, being dual pane soundproof glass, is only $550 ("not that expensive") and not much less than a 10 lb sledge hammer will get through one...I've seen the videos. Replacement "fairly easy"? ...depends on who's doing it.
If not a dealer/locksmith ... I don't have a ready solution, but I assume your mind is running the same directions as mine ... If a window, I'd go small and MUCH cheaper with the rear side triangle glass.
As I'm sure you know, the sunroof glass is only held in by 3 little, low-torque torx screws on each side.
Then there's the possibility(?) of going into the trunk through a destroyed right side tail light to maybe get to the release rod running from the keyhole to the latch. If you could get into the trunk, you'd have access to the central locking pump and open the door locks from there.
Never done any of this, so just sharing thoughts.
Sorry to hear about the illness. I'm recovering from back surgery myself, but doing pretty well.
Cheers,
Sam

So Marty, are you still laughing? ...I am.
It just occurred to me ... You could dress up in your Imperial Trooper outfit (Halloween is coming up) and cut your way in with your lightsaber ... Don't know why I didn't think of that before? ... must be a gray matter thing, huh?
As for other comments on this thread, to which I don't recall doing the honor of addressing directly:
I think someone's sensitive little girl is using their parents' computer to talk with adults on the internet, without their permission.

You'll have a hard time finding any D2's sitting in breakers yards anywhere in Australia as they are extraordinarily rare here. A8's were Au$150,000+ new, my S8 was Au$220,000...
Breakers in the US and UK are either reluctant to freight here or price themselves out of the market too.
Ebay sometimes works for parts, but I usually deal new and try to avoid having to buy body parts.
I got hold of a VAG specialist locksmith today. They're confident they can break into the car and they're also going to program my keys to the immobiliser.

Ha ha,
There's a lot of negativity towards Halloween here as it's largely regarded as an American 'holiday'.
It's gaining popularity though, especially amongst kids.
I live in the Dandenong Ranges on the outskirts of Melbourne and we have a long steep driveway. We never see trick or treaters, so it doesn't really matter if I put on my Storm Trooper outfit or not 😉

I too am very lucky to live up a long, narrow, steep dead end road in the mountains (getting out and back in snow can be quite scary, though .. no matter what you drive) ...have never had a trick-or-treater up here. Just in case, though, I buy a bag a candy I like and wake up with a tummy ache on Nov 1st every year
Whoop...just noticed what time it is down (up) there (just finished breakfast here) .... go to bed, bud.
Cheers,
Sam

Just because you don't have the ***** to address the person you clearly are sneering at directly doesn't mean you didn't direct it at them.
Buying a second-hand window may not be the most practical solution for the OP but it is a solution and for him to decide not you.
And just so we are clear I still think your idea of smashing in a bonded window is ****, but that's for the OP to decide.
In the mean time, I recommend that you go back to inappropriately touching your cousins or what ever else it is that you do in Douchville TN
Yes that was an insult directed at you.

Now, to you...directly:
First, ...not only do I find your our obsession with my ***** flattering, but a little disturbing too... because I don't play for that team...not that there's anything wrong with that.
And contrary to what you may imagine, in the big picture (and this small one) you are nothing more than yet another unsightly panty stain in need of laundering.
Is that direct enough for you, princess?
