Hey all.

Friend got in the car, and whipped the **** 180* on the sunroof.

Sunroof went cockeyed, and got stuck an inch open. Drove home, tried to manually crank it close. Like an idiot, instead of trying to figure out why its not moving, I cranked it too hard and stripped out the worm drive cables/line guides. Even after cleaning them out and the motor teeth, it still stripped. no bueno. So I believe now I need the line guides/cables. Not sure if it comes with the whole track set up or what. Also could use a tip to getting the solar sunroof open/out since the solar sunroof doesnt have the inside slider to slide out of the way to get to the screws holding the glass in. I am literally tarping my car and not driving it on rainy days right now. Please help

Sorry to hear about your ill sunroof....I also have that fancy solar set up, and given the German electronics propensity to fail, I rarely open it.

I would think your best bet (for the $) would be an Audi salvage yard as there are plenty of A8/S8s that are being de-comissioned on a regular basis.

I've also sourced an occasional used S8 part off eBay with very good results.
