Finally flushed the brakes
Purchased the Schwaben power brake flusher and catch can from ECS. The power flusher works great. But the collection bottle is fantastic. Ran two liters through and did not spill a drop.
Pedal is much harder. One item, the last wheel bled was the driver side front. After it was almost finished some air bubbles came out. So flushed a lot more to make sure they had stopped. The line from the bottle to the master cylinder never ran dry.
Cannot figure out why the first bubbles came after 1 1/2 liters of fluid were run through the system. The volume of fluid was at least twice the volume of the lines on the last wheel when the bubbles started. The fluid flushed was green, the Pentosin Super DOT4 is amber. It was easy to see when new fluid was coming out.
Any ideas?

Similar situation happened to me. Conclusion was the bleeder valve was open a bit too much and air was drawn in from the vacuum created around the bleeder threads. Drove me crazy, here check out my video...

Your system was not under enough pressure to push brake fluid so it was sucked together with some air around treads. That's siphon effect. When you lifted that container there was no suction and no bubbles. Same thing happened to Panelhead.

Probably +1
I do mine the old way with a kid or wife pumping and me on the hose with a wrench, resurfacing periodically to top up reservoir. When you move the wrench and bleeder just right mid pump you can see some new air coming in to clear tubing. A bit of leakage at the bleeder screw, maybe with a bit of venturi (sucking) effect to boot as the passage tapers down to get through the bleed screw.
To one of the replies, cycling ABS pump not needed on D3. I know what it is-- can be done w/ VCDS at least on older Audis. Used to be needed big time if you ever let system go dry (not good), but Art changed the design somehow so air doesn't get trapped like with earlier set ups.

Did it the old fashioned 2 person way many times and many years. However, wife never thought is was fun as I did, so I build a home made pressure bleeder using a $10 garden sprayer, some brass adapters, air pressure gauge, inexpensive replacement brake fluid cap, and some silicone did the trick.
For those interested, there are lots of DIY instructions on youtube or via google search for "homemade brake pressure bleeder".

The Schwaben catch can is the ticket

The catch can, 1 liter is sweet. The fitting allow wrenching the bleeders without twisting the line. The one I had fits inside the bleeder and always leaks.
