I assume this is an Audi main dealer part. I'll call and get a price....

Default Hey guys, i got a question!

Im having a similar issue with my alarm horn. it just started today. Id never heard it before. it was on and off all day until i realised it was mine. No flashing lights. just the beeping. I read some threads on here to locate it and disconnected it to keep the neighbours happy. I cracked the case and it looks perfect. No corrosion or leakage. I measured the voltage on each individual pack of 3 batts and it was 4.3V. By using the connector pins its showing a (i guess combined) reading of 7.4V. Does that sound about right?

also, what is the function of that beep? Ive never heard the alarm go off on the car but have always presumed it uses the main horn like my old D2. Is there any problem with leaving it off the car? The car has never beeped on closing or opening.

Ive ordered a new one anyway.

I did notice the connector loom was a bit wet and lying in a small pool of crud. It did have a wash yesterday and its also been raining hard here.

Many thanks from the UK

2003 A8 3.7 petrol (no vagcom)

That horn is the only alarm siren. When new it is quite loud, high annoying pitch. Locking/unlocking beep can be turned on and off by VCDS. Check your plenum drains if you have any water there. It can flood inside and kill many modules.

Just supplementing, the main horn used in traffic is indeed completely separate. Two individual horns actually, a low and a mid, located in between the radiator/AC panel and the upper grille. Mine died in the past year so I got to figure out how to get in there to replace. Pretty easy on a pre-fishmouth apparently; trickier to reach with fish mouth and avoid having to move front clip forward. D2/C5 had the functions separate as well.

I'll check out those drains.
