keyless start upgrade
So I basically thought my 04 a8l was the coolest car on the planet.... until I saw my friends 05....
He has the complete keyless entry with keyless start and push button start.
Is there any way to retrofit the system into my 04? Would it even be worth it? How complex is the system?

If you really gotta have it, replace the car. Or, each time you have to labor to press the button on the fob or place the key in the ignition and turn it, remember that you have an extra $5-10k n your pocket by driving an older car.
I wouldn't even consider changing headlight or taillight assemblies to make the car appear more like a newer model.
Plus, if you were to "bastardize" the car, if in ends up immobile, authorized dealers could refuse to work on it. Then what?

Perfect example of me and Mister Bally's cars. I went to meet him for some help with VCDS and he has an 04, I had/still have the 2005 with the main differences between ours being mine had full leather package, keyless start, and the locks on the outside of the car. Really not worth retrofitting.

I didn't even know that A8 cars came without the keyless go. I knew there were two versions of it though. The normal button and the fingerprint reader. All the 4.2 cars here have the latter.

Brozee, my son & I drove MP4.2+6.0's W12 a few weeks back; What an amazing machine. More important, what an amazing AudiWorld user. I somehow ended up with a couple of new air cleaner elements for the ride down Pacific Coast Highway. Then on to San Diego before heading to Las Vegas and then back home.
Amazing coincidence; we were filling up my A8 with gasoline after washing it and my son noticed MP4.2+6.0 driving by the gas station the night before we met up. Small world.......

That's funny you say that. I met up with Banglara and spent a few days hanging out with him in L.A. and Hollywood when I went down to Cali. More than helpful and extremely knowledgeable. His W12 was what had me sold on getting mine.

Remote start is more useful
I'd spend my money on a remote starter instead. Far more useful than keyless entry/start will ever be...
www.xpresskit.com do plug and play remote start interface modules for the A8.
