Gentlemen,
New control operating module arrived and I installed it today (purchased genuine audi unit from ECS tunning) Unfortunately no change, nothing is lit, no response from any buttons. I double checked all connectors, no change.
I suspect I am not getting power to the control operating unit. Would there be anyone who could help me locating what wires are powering operating module (at its connector)? I am really novice when it comes to wiring diagrams.
I also wanted to check if there is a fuse for this circuit but don't know where to start. Your help is much appreciated

Since Yesterday I hate myself - I accidently spilled coffee on the MMI controls when the system was on. By the time I noticed, MMI screen went black and the screen stayed in open position even after I switched off the ignition.
I started going through the options that I have:
a) I removed and disassembled the MMI controls and I am preparing to carefully clean up the electronic board with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. I honestly don't have high hopes it's going to save it. (see attached picture)
b) I called Audi dealer in Edmonton Canada and got a quote for MMI controls P/N 1199 4E1 919 612 H and it's $1200 CAD plus tax.
c) I checked ECS Tuning and it will be around $750 CAD shipped plus taxes and plus customs charges (they say it's Genuine Audi part) I am expecting it to be around $850 CAD total plus tax

The only fuse i know 100% sure about is the #12 one on the right hand side front fuse panel, it controls the screen.
I just bought my D3 about 2 months ago knowing it had MMI issues. I was told the control panel had coffee spilled on it. Mine did not light or do anything else. I bought a used unit from a dismantler and same thing, no response. once i replaced the Control Head Module (behind glove box) everything came to life. Did i need to replace the control panel? I am not sure, but it seemed like the Module behind the glove box was the main culprit to my issues.

Then go through and check all the fuses in the boxes.
Unlikely the fuse for the Mmi is anywhere else.

Thanks for advices and sharing your experiences with similar issue. I checked users manual for fuse locations, and will check all fuses with my power probe 3 (love that tool)
I compared Ross Tech scan from last year and scan that I did last week when MMI was not working. I made comments on what has changed in brackets. It appears the MMI system can not be reached, I will start with fuses. Here is the scan:

You did not make any comment in brackets for "07", 07 in the MMI control head module located behind the glove box, Also do a "optics/electrical" test as pictured, it may be that you fried the MMI CH....

I added comments for the "07" MMI control head in the post above (thanks for noticing) I also did run the optics electrical test, please see results in the attachment.
I checked fuse #12 on passenger side front fuse box and visually it appears ok.

Just for curiosity I asked for price of control head and fiber optic cable my local dealer:
control head P/N 4E0910732SX (original P/N 4E0910729B) $2326.72 CAD with core exchange
fiber optic cable P/N 4E0972460 $607.17 CAD
According to dealer if I replace control head it will need to be programmed. Any insights or thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks

Yes they component protected.
If you need to get replacement get it from previous poster who seemed to get one with the compost protection removed and cheaper.
I got one from Poland a couple of years ago with cp removed.
If fuses ok you may have to try Mmi head unit.
You may opt for a cheap used one for testing off eBay.

That's ridiculous !!
That's $1800 and change USD just for the MMI CH, I get them for $1,000 USD my cost at the dealership brand new, plus a $250 USD core charge that is refunded when returned, also when brand new from the dealer there should be no component protection active, you may just have to check the coding as matching your original, and that can be done with your Ross-Tech, but to be honest I don't think I've ever even change the coding on an MMI CH, and I have done quite a few.
Also I would not worry about the optical loom, I have a complete optic loom front to back for an A8 in the attic......

If all other options exhausted you may have to have a big adventure behind the glovebox to check or swap out the Mmi head unit.
If you go to Audi they will probably tell you Mmi head unit for few thousand and it will cost a couple of hundred to tell you that.
If you get cheap used off eBay get one with fbas if you have tv or rev cam or planning to.
Make sure part hw and sw is 4e0 as there are a few for different models sw is not 4e0 and not compatible.
