Thinking about removing the A8L and 4.2L badges off of the back of my Audi, wondering if anyone has done this before and what the safest way to do so would be.

Hair dryer + fishing line (or dental floss).

I've done it, used a heat gun and a soft plastic thingy to pry it off. Had to use some really fine polish to get it all clean though.

Done it a few times.

Use a blow dryer to get the adhesive soft. It helps if you have an extra hand to keep the blow dryer running while you use dental floss (waxed) in between the emblem and the body panel. Pull the dental floss back and forth in a sawing motion to cut through the adhesive.

Once you have cut through the adhesive with the dental floss you will most likely have a little material left on the body panel. A little WD40 on a micro fiber towel will take that stuff right off.

After you have it all cleared off take the opportunity to run over the area with a mild polish to clean up any fade lines.

I have found that the best way to remove the lingering adhesive is to use a ball of the same adhesive and keep dabbing it. Each time you dab, the adhesive will stick to itself and pull some off the car. Just keep at it and you'll have all of it gone and never have to use any solvents.

I used a hairdryer on a car and then use some goo be gone to get the rest of the adhesive off. A piece of cake really but I would not use a heat gun ever on paint like that. You could damage the clearcoat!
