I have great sympathy for you. My 2005 911 was wrecked twice, once when a deer jumped in front of me 2 blocks from work in +4 F temp on the way to work one morning before daylight and a year later when a 16 year old talking on her cell phone rear ended me while I was stopped at a stoplight. There was an excellent body shop in Salt Lake City and both times the repairs were outstanding. They paint match was exact. Visually you couldn't tell anyting had happened. -------- But, I just never felt the same about the car and traded it soon after the second accident. I couldn't get past it emotionally, hope you can. Good luck.

I got my car back, yay!!

There are a few nit picky panel lines that are off to my eye, but the body shop couldn't even see them until we were able to confirm with the appropriate body spacers.

They were willing to get the panel lines more into my "satisfaction" range, but I think the law of diminishing returns will come into play here. Not to mention, the more they mess with it, the more it gets messed up.

They forgot to hook up the connector for the passenger lighted "S8" door sill, but I was able to just look underneath and see the dangling connector.

And lastly, the trim around the window needs replacing but the part (as per the body shop) kept showing up broken so they had to use my old trim.

But all in all, I'm glad to have her back. After months of buicks and loaners, my god is that S8 a beast. I took her on a longgggggggg drive after work all in the backroad twisties in SF bay area. I loved every second.

Here's the trim that needs replacing.

Since the car needs to go back to the body shop for polishing of the clear coat, they can replace it at that time.

HOOORAY! Yeah, a couple of nits to pick in the overall scheme of things isn't bad. No rattles or squeaks on your extended drive, I take it...Very good!!! Body work looks AOK from the pics.

You need to file a diminished claim against the driver and re-coup some more $$$.

He doesn't know who the driver was.... It was a hit and run in a parking lot.

I feel for you on this one...A few months ago I picked up a brand new G Wagon and literally had 700 miles on the odometer when this happened:

My wife was driving at the time, at a red light, 8 months pregnant too! She got rear ended by someone just not paying attention! Damage doesn't look too bad but ended up around $11,000 to fix. I have been trying to get a diminished claim against the other driver but in MA it's not so easy I guess, at least that's what my attorney keeps telling me. Looks like they did a really nice job fixing your car though! Same with the G wagon, I was really nervous because its matte silver, but the body shop got it perfect. I can't even tell. Unfortunately, it diminished the value of the truck by about $30k...
