The 3D map also seems to have surprisingly good topographical information as well when one zooms out.

You can turn off auto-zoom for intersections in the Nav settings. You can also use the speech button and say 'map larger' or 'scale - one mile' and keep your hands free.

Thanks. I do like the auto zoom feature to be honest, but that only works when you have a destination set. There are times I just have the nav screen on without a destination and as other people have said, it seems that only the 3D view will keep the settings if changed. Also, I have to say that a quick turn of the **** is easier than doing the speech thing, at least for me
