no NWB A8 for 2016?
I asked my Audi dealer when he expects to see the 2016 A8's appear, as I'm thinking of getting a new one. I'm a fan of the NWB (normal wheel base, or sometimes called SWB, short or standard wheel base), and not the "L". My dealer tells me that Audi has just announced that it will not be producing the NWB A8s in 2016. This seems like an odd change in strategy. Is my dealer confused?? Or is this for real? Anybody know the back story and Audi's rationale?

I have a '16 S8 on order with an early June build and it is a SWB (can't get it in a LWB). I did not hear that the '16 A8's will only be available in LWB--I do know the A8L's way outsell the A8's so maybe that's why Audi is dropping the SWB.

I wouldn't put too much stock in this w/ out a 2016 order guide
The last version of the order guide I found showed both short and long wheelbase 3.0T models. D4 pages start on p 46 of attached. That order guide said the 4.0T's were delayed. It also has the TDI L and the W12 L, plus the typical SWB S8. The 4.0T "delay" page refers to the "L" but can't be sure; the Audi exclusive pages way in the back of the order guide refer to both SWB and LWB 4.0T's.
I get the sense some folks here on the D4 board have Audi connections, so maybe somebody can get any newer version of the order guide than this one--4/3/15 as to D4 content, and no pricing as of that date. The product information book (PIB) for the 2016 D4 is what would be the pretty definitive word. In the D3 case, the SWB was often sold as kind of a "stripper" in a lot of cases, so they could be simplifying by tying it to the 3.0T. They may want more differentiation between the S8 and 4.0T SWB as well.

order guide shows "currently not available"
thanks for sharing that order guide. It's odd, in that even though it shows a category for an NWB 3.0, it also says "4HC54A
CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE FOR ORDERING" next to it. I wonder if they had it in there as a placeholder while they made up their mind, and they made up their mind to not offer it.

The 2016 order guide that I was shown by my dealer for the S8 when I ordered mine indicates that the Driver Assistance Package and the Cold Weather Package are now included as standard features and are no longer options. It has an issue date of 4/3/15 with a revision date of 4/10/15.

See my newest post with more definitive 2016 order guide
See: 2016 Order guide w/ pricing + more details; SWB is 3.0T and S8 only - AudiWorld Forums
Basically, SWB is now only available with the 3.0T motor in the USA, plus of course the S8 like always.
