Default Shift lock solenoid clicking the automatic shifter Audi 90/Cabriolet

My 98 Cabriolet automatic shifter started knocking...engine running in park or neutral with no pressure on the brake pedal. Press the brakes and the knock goes away.

Shifter was working fine..locks when the key is removed..etc.

Went to the Bentley and found this:

Shift Lock Solenoid - Clicking Group: 37 Number: 96-01 Date: Mar. 8, 1996 Subject:
Shift Lock Solenoid, Clicking Model(s):
90 1993--> Cabriolet 1994-->Condition Rapid clicking noise from shift lock solenoid with vehicle in park and engine running. Service

Condition can be caused by 1 or more exterior lights inoperative.

If a vehicle exhibits this condition: - Check for inoperative exterior lights and repair or replace as necessary.

I had a brake light bulb out.

Now why would the lock solenoid click when a bulb goes out? I have no idea..I do not have the auto-check.

If this is true, which I belive so, this might be an early version of the new warning system for changing the lanes (the vibrating steering wheel) or something like that...

When you put the new bulb, is it still doing it?

New brake lamp bulb fixed the knocking...why Audi might have this "safety feature" and never document in the owner's manual is beyond me..
