Default 4G Data Usage - CRAP!! **updated info**

Whoa, I used 3.55 GBs already? (Had the car for 1.5 months).

Anyone check their usage? I don't do anything but use google maps and a few internet location searches… no music, no content.

I'm curious what everyone else is using.

(I got this screen shot from my 'myaudi' page online.)

Perhaps MMI / Navigation updates have been downloaded? I think you have an option to download and install from MMI Connect.

The Google Earth overlay can be a significant data hog. If you use it full time and often travel outside of a 20 mile radius, it will consistently overwrite the cache and will be downloading new data. Think of a constant data stream of downloaded photographs which is what Google Earth is doing.

Yep, that could be it, I use it all the time. Thanks.

I have an iPhone 4S with Navigon/Garmin GPS app. It doesn't use any data as the maps are all loaded so I use 0.

Well, yeah, the regular map is loaded in the MMI too, we're talking about the Google Map overlay burning through data, not the normal graphic map.

Perhaps so but there are some obvious advantages to using the MMI nav over the phone app. Viewing size and complete car integration to name just two. As to Google Earth or it's Apple map counterpart, the photo images are not stored on the phone either and take time to download from the internet.

Ok, I think everyone has found how poorly the MyAudi website and app work, I just checked my data usage since I posted this and it's show LESS data now than a few weeks ago?!?

(The pic that shows 2.82 GBs was captured AFTER the one that says I used 3.55 GBs.)

What the?
