We looked at several vehicles with our main "needs" being:

#1 - Better fuel economy than our TDI
#2 - Enough room for our dog, including easy access
#3 - Price
#4 - Virtual Dash

The CPO Model S we found was fully loaded and about $85K a few years ago. The E-Tron was about the same price but still requires gas, has less room for our dog, and in my opinion, too costly for 18 miles of battery range. We already have the charger infrastructure at our place since we have a Volt as well. We also like buying used vs new. I like my decision.

And your math is a little off. The E-Tron only qualifies for $4158 in tax incentives since the battery is so small. After factoring in sales tax, I would still be paying over $45K for the Premium Plus w/tech package, or close to $50K for a Prestige.

Now if Audi brings back the A4 Wagon as a plug-in hybrid option with 50+ miles of range...goodbye Volt!

Not arguing with your logic, everyone picks what's best for them.

However, it's $4502 in rebates. The number you quoted was the initial guess before the IRS pegged the real number. Not that ~$400 sways the math.

The state of California offers a $1500 rebate for plug in hybrids. The feds offer a $4500 tax rebate. With those and my VW buyback, I ended up paying $15k for my etron Premium including tax and license. A good deal as far as I'm concerned, and it more than meets my needs.

So what's the real world electric range? They should totally make a full electric... like the Nissan Leaf...

So far it's about 15 miles in electric mode. Your mileage may vary.

I opted for a plug-in hybrid over full electric because of range anxiety. I don't want to be stranded or be looking for a charging station on long trips.

Exactly. Lots of other options if someone wants a full electric car. I prefer a car that drives like an Audi. The fact it gets great mileage is a nice bonus.

With a light foot and good weather I am getting around 20 miles, plus or minus 2. Now that it is cooler and we turn the heat on a little and the front heated seats are on, with a light foot I am getting around 15-16 mies. I expect it to go down when it gets cold (below freezing), not just cool (upper 30s to mid 40s).

This is with the standard 17" tires. From what I hear, the "Ultra" with 16" rims and LRR tires will add 20% (?)

Can anyone confirm if the Base model NA eTrons have the power folding mirror motors installed, but just not enabled in software?

Has anyone managed to to use a VAG-COM or VCDS tool to enable or wake up these mirror features?

thx
