Anyone use this Android screen replacement in their A3?

You can hook up a wifi OBD2 reader and the system will and can read all information from it (like using torque). Unfortunately this system doesn't have BT so you can only use a wifi dongle which are still pretty cheap. I haven't tried a USB version... not sure if there are any that are compatible with Android.

Now i have a HD formatted to HFS+, so i can use at my Mac and have files bigger than 4GB.
Did you guys find how to use a Bluetooth USB dongle?
It will open many possibilities like use a better GPS, OBD, Keyboard.
If USB dongle doesn't work, a SD Bluetooth might

Hello All,
@mroberte
Has anyone had any problems with the firmware?
I own a Q-ROI (Navitouch Android installed on an Audi S3 8V. It was on the shop for over a month, battery drained while there, now I have a "dead" or "resting" Android robot on the screen. (Picture attached)
I have done everything from restarts, resets (via reset button), pulled power plug and so on but nothing seems to happen. Is there a way to reflash the factory software or going to recovery mode and resetting or restoring to factory ?
The most annoying part, besides not being able to use the Android feature itself, is that the system keeps resetting while driving so it turns the whole screen off momentarily... please HELP !
Thanks.
JJ

Did you fix it?

What settings did you use to root?
After rooting the device were you able to adjust the microphone gain so it better understands commands when driving? (There is to much road noise over 30+ kmph)

I don't know what you meaning settings.
I just download the apk from the Navitouch execute and done.
Nothing special.
The Mic i did not try yet because i need to finish soldering the wires.

If you don't want to solder the wires consider using posi-taps. I used them to connect to the stock microphone and connect to the mic in on the navitouch. Works perfect except when there is ambient noise (road noise).
Thanks for the root link. Works great, it helps make the android box a lot more use able. It had so many odd quirks.
For one I can now get it to fetch the time on boot as the unit does not have an internal battery; delays getting GPS lock. I also installed a variety of other tools that save precious real estate by reducing the navbar and status bar.
The only really remaining issue is how to adjust the microphone gain so the mic can be used while driving. Or even enable automatic gain control.

The screens low resolution was difficult to deal with in the past as most apps would not load properly/be formatted correctly.
After rooting the device
Changed boot animation
Change DPI from 240 to 220 (no issues) keyboard is a tiny bit smaller but fits nicely
Suppress toast notifications
NTP clock sync on boot (needs root) - helps faster GPS lock
Xposed
App Manager (this app is fantastic for changing DPI of applications that do not format correctly)
Ie can run Waze @ 200 DPI and everything fits perfectly
I cant seem to find any way to get the microphone to work when the car is moving, there is simply to much road noise.
I found this company
"Our products are ideal for removing the noises you mention and we have had a number of customers with similar applications who designed-in one of our noise cancelling pcb modules for this type of application. The best module to look at would be our NEDSP900:"

From the company itself
"We are just about to launch a development kit to help customers with their design-in of the NEDSP900. This is available at £124.96 net, and includes 1 x NEDSP900 along with the evaluation board and user manual."

To faster power on, i used the F29 on the Fuse box. This is the interior light fuse, so when i open the car with the remote it power on. Its almost ready when i turn the car on.
Use this to a cleaner installation:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm thinking to buy a power of delay, so the unit still can run to an 1 hour for ex.

DPI changer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...texdroider_dpi
I set the DPI to 220, be careful using other settings as you can potentially softbrick the device. I did not try others as 220 worked and is perfect. It is a native android format so apps and most things will scale properly.
"
Rather than having a specific DPI value for each different device, Android groups displays with similar DPI values together. As such, there are currently 7 different DPIs that Android supports natively:
- 120 (LDPI)
- 160 (MDPI)
- 213 (TVDPI)
- 240 (HDPI)
- 360 (XHDPI)
- 480 (XXHDPI)
- 640(XXXHDPI)

Xposed APK for resizing individual applications DPI

(some map applications like waze, tomtom, google i like using a lower DPI to get more on the screen ~190dpi)
NTP

Boot animation

There is an animated "android" one that is 720x720 looks quite nice

Auto launch (set delay ~20 second after boot to load maps)

I have it launch Tomtom GO (I use this map because i dont always have wifi and i need it to have offline maps when im in remote areas)
If you need a link for this pm me.
mroberte sent me these in PM so credit to him

I got a similar relay (it makes a small click sound when turned on and off) I am experimenting using mode 10.
not sure how this relay will behave differently then the one you linked.
So how does F29 work. When you unlock the car with the remote there is 12v on F29? When does it turn off?
#69
Have you fully tested using F29 to turn on the android device?
First off I timed my boot time to be ~53-57 seconds.
I started the car, turned it off locked the door and stayed seated inside the car. Without touching anything the lights turned off and android shutdown when the lights turned out.
I stayed seated in my car for 5 minutes then pressed the unlock button on the remote. I immediately pressed the nav button to see the boot progress and if the car light on would boot the navitouch. I noticed that it was already fully booted into the OS. It should have taken a minute.
I noticed something strange. When i turn the car off and lock the door, after a few seconds android shuts off and the screen recedes into the dash.
Android after a few moments even after shutdown. Can you confirm this behavior?
Either way every time i get into my car android is already running.

Does anyone happen to have pictures of inside the device? I am curious if i can add another gig of ram.
If anyone hasnt installed the unit in their car, might you be able to open it up and take a bunch of pictures.
Specifically around the ram and the type.
