^^^ I completely agree that BASS management is key (my subwoofer comment was mere euphemist commentary), and in Car Audio, I gather the sub is a major component for covering the freq. range since bass is the largest range and the least covered by car speakers, , there must be a middle ground though... that double sub is huge.

Is the amp under the drivers seat? Some sort of vented enclosure there

Ha, yes looks like he has 2x12 inch subs installed... I'd have to imagine a single 15 inch would do the work just as well and take up less space with its enclosure.
Back in the day I was accustomed to installing a dual enclosure for 10 inchers whenever possible, as the 10's are just the right mix of punchy yet musical...

now I'd be more worried about it interfering with my cargo net, or adding all that extra weight in magnets to my sporty sedan.

Be nice to have something that could fit in the right side of the trunk where that black box is taking up a bunch of space in the compartment.

Never liked huge subs because I don't want to sacrifice my trunk space (tho I do like how they sound most of the time) - plus all the added weight.

Nope, 2x10". The biggest size that I could fit and still get the convertible drop tray to close. 12s would have been too tall. Narrow cone 10s also, to keep the enclosure as small as possible. I originally only wanted a single 10, but the owner of the car audio shop (b's car stereo in Elyria OH) that did the work talked me into the double enclosure because the price would be not much different either way (the biggest cost was the custom fiberglass enclosure) and he promised that the 2x10 would sound a lot better. A small amp added under the passenger seat. Pretty simple setup.

First upgrade I did was the Sub. Can't enjoy the music without good bass. My audi salesperson told me the A3 I was buying had the B&O which it didn't. Shame on me for not validating his claim. When I called him back afterwards he denied he said it. Lesson learned. I dropped a 1000 watt amp (with it's own EQ) under the passenger seat and a 12" JBL sub in the trunk. I built it in the back so I lost the fold down seat option through the trunk but I didn't buy the car for that at all. Best of luck with your ride and you will want a bigger sub!!! #morebass

I should have cleaned the trunk before the pic but it's early.
