Sorry if you cant read the text on the image.
Basically I mention how I got my MMi cable on Amazon for about 20$. Got an extra small charge cable for the hdmi to av converter. And a right angle HDMI cable.

Portrait mode looks terrible and too small but landscape looks great. On my iphone it defaults to landscape when watching movies etc. I can even lock the phone while watching youtube and the video will still play perfectly fine.
Decided NOT to mount it in the car. And just use it when I want to.

cool mod and with VIM unlocked its a must have.
I have an mmi usb cable and not mmi AV. So do you think if I use a usb to hdmi converter instead, it will do the same job?

Default Thanks, will try

I did see a USB to HDMI convertor on line. To me the Convertor and the cable didn't quite look the same, as the convertor is a box, needing a power input etc. So perhaps the convertor does a bit more, maybe.

Anyway thanks for the responses. I will try the convertor and see if it works and post a reply.

I also found another cable that goes into the MMI slot but it's other end is a wide one (similar to the old iPhone 4 type, but not exactly that. I am trying to go through the Audi book to find out what that is and try to see if that's any different.

Will post, if successful.

i can now charge my phone while using VIM with just 1 cable. all the wires, hdmi converter box, etc. are hidden nicely under the center console organizer.

Could you please show the phone connected to the system? I have used a cable wrap to get the HDMI and power together and going into the Apple HDMI adapter, which is as close as I can go. The cords hide away in the center console under the armrest where I could put my phone to be totally hands free. There however is a cable bundle.

I have the CarL mount so this is what it looks like plugged in to the phone:

Nifty. I guess I don't see why you have it right under the screen you're mirroring.

Are you using an iPhone? Hard to tell. If so, what cable are you using?
